Willie Lee Buggs

Willie L. Buggs was born December 11, 1942 to the late T.W. Buggs and the late Earlene Fountain Buggs in Summerfield, LA. 

He accepted Christ at an early age.  He was a graduate of Woodson High School where he was Crown King for Homecoming.  After completion of high school, he attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, LA.  He became a deacon at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.  He later moved his membership to Union Mission Missionary Baptist Church where he remained in his deaconship.  Later he joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir.  He was employed at Warner Brown Hospital for eighteen (18) years where he met and married Joyce Thomas in holy matrimony.  To this union one child was born.  He was employed by Cooper Company, and later worked for Central Arkansas Development Council (“CADC”) as supervisor.  While employed at C ADC he met and married LaRuth Hildreth in holy matrimony on August 7, 2004.  To this union, no children were born.

He remained at CADC until his health failed and forced him into retirement.  Willie was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend.  He loved fishing whenever he could.

On Friday, February 22, 2019 at Courtyard Health & Rehabilitation, God dispatched an angel from Heaven to relieve Willie from his earthly suffering and escort him to glory where he could rest in peace.  Awaiting his arrival at Heaven’s gates are his parents, one sister Judy Buggs Henderson, and other loving family members.

Those left to cherish his memories: his loving wife, LaRuth Buggs of Smackover, AR; daughter, NaTasha Mason (Louis) of Huttig, AR; brother, Leroy Buggs (Joann) of Spearsville, LA; two sisters, Ina Flourney (Hodge) of Homer, LA and Patricia Napuit of Houston, TX; three aunts, Ida B. Bartley, Dorothy Jones, and Doris Mitchell all of Shreveport, LA; one uncle Floyd Fountain (Lois) of Flint, MI.  He will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Family hour will be Friday, March 8,2019 from 6-7pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will be at Hicks Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Sign the guestbook online at www.simsmortuary.com
