Samuel King

Samuel (Sammie) King Sr., a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Hero, Protector and Provider. He was the first son of the Late Malcom & Margaret King and was born on April 24, 1941, in Lawson, Arkansas. Sammie departed Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at his daughter's home in El Dorado, AR.

Sammie was a God-fearing man and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age by uniting with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church #2 in Urbana. He encompassed a variety of services; it was clear to him that ministering as a Deacon was very rewarding. He served on the finance committee until his health failed, He was well known for making his Harmonica sing like a songbird. He took great pride in keeping a manicured lawn, as well as making sure the Mt. Zion Cemetery was always at its best.

He worked for Georgia Pacific until he became disabled for several years.

He united in holy matrimony to the Nettie Ruth Anderson-King on August 25, 1961. Six children were born to this union: five girls and one boy.

He was a very wise man. He was a man of very few words; however, when he spoke, you would provide him your undivided attention. His famous words of advice were, "Keep lying down and getting up."

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered as he transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home, where he joined his parents. Three daughters: Maria A. King-Morton, Nellie Ann King, and Norma Jean Aaron. One grandson, Jimmie Aaron Jr. Six brothers: Jethro, Aubrey, Arthur, Joys, Daniel, and Willie King. Three Sisters, Bettie Washington, Minnie Barnes, and Ruth Green all preceded him in death.

His Memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 63 years Nettie King of Lawson, and two daughters, Connie King and Joyce Lovett, both of El Dorado, AR. One son, Samuel L. King Jr.(Latoshia) of Lawson. Three brothers: Russell (Helen) of Lawson, Frank, and Donald (Ida) of El Dorado, AR. Eleven grandchildren, Fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Alongside his wife Nettie, he helped to raise a niece and nephew, Mark Malone and Andrea Ellis. His nephews, Johnny, Erik, and Tee Washington, helped to care for him while he was home, also his grandson Daniel Kid, who was his caregiver. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will always love and miss him.
