Ruth Verdille Loudd Jones was born on July 29, 1930 to Elmer Jacob Loud, Sr. and Deborah B. Williams Loudd. She passed away on Saturday, May 16, in Russellville, Arkansas.
At an early age, she became a member of New Providence Baptist Church in Norphlet, Arkansas. Ruth completed her high school education in Norphlet, Arkansas. After graduating, she went to beauty school under Thelma Powell. She worked at J & M Poultry. She was the owner and operator of Ruth’s Drive-In. She was a caterer and was known for her cakes with a specialty in pound cakes.
She was married to Joe C. Jones, Sr. for over forty-three years. They joined the Evergreen Baptist Church together. Later in life, they joined First Baptist Church – Cordell. Ruth was a member of Circle Deborah in the Women’s Missionary Society at First Baptist. She also served as a member of the kitchen staff.
Ruth was a member of the Self Culture Club for fifty plus years. She was recognized as an outstanding volunteer with her four best friends from Arkansas Associates of Area Agency on Aging and Adult Service where individual seniors are honored as elder care volunteers. She also received the Governor’s Volunteer Excellence Award in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Jones, Sr., and two of her children-Joann Jones Johnson and Joe C. Jones, Jr. (Chuck); her parents, five sisters: Mabel Gurst, Lucille Beatly, Irean Johnson, Eborah Loudd and Willye B. Davis and three brothers: Elmer Loudd, Jr., Ollie J. Loudd, and Thomas Donald Loudd.
She will be remembered by all of the lives she has touched. She also leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters- Kaylene (Don) Bivens and Linda D. Jones Brown, and one son, Marcus A. Jones, all of El Dorado; ten grandchildren: Majuna R. (Herbert) Jones McGhee of Russellville, Donald E. Jones and Lynn D. Jones both of El Dorado, Furious Johnson of Arlington, TX, Joseph Byrd of Pine Bluff, AR, David Williams of North Fork, VA, Jonathan Evans of Pine Bluff, AR, Landy Jones and Kevin Brawley of California, and Titus Brawley of El Dorado; twelve great grandchildren- Trevion Q. Traylor, Shaniya M. Jones, Ezekiel Williams, Zaeana Jones, Aiden D. Jones, Braxton Williams, Emonte Jones, Dominique Jones, Khristian Brawley, Tirah Brawley, Tejah Brawley, Timotheus Brawley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and god-daughters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Cordell.
