Mickey Joe Murphy

April 5, 1959 — December 28, 2018

Brother Mickey Joe Murphy affectionately called “Mickey Joe” by all his family and friends was born April 5, 1959 to Billy James Murphy Sr., and Eula Mae Cook in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Mickey Joe became a child of God at an early age, and confessed his faith in Christ, and baptized at First Baptist Church, Cordell St. and later in life joined Morning Star Baptist Church #2.

Mickey Joe loved to sing and dance.  His voice was a ray of sunshine every time a tune would come out. His smile would brighten any cloudy day, and spreading God’s word he wouldn’t have any other way. Mickey Joe was a man full of life, who loved his family and most of all his children, grandchildren and great grands.

He received his education at El Dorado Public School System graduating from high school in 1977, upon graduating, Mickey Joe joined the United States Army traveling the world and fighting for our country.  He also received his Psychology Degree and an Electrical Engineering degree. After completing his Military Career he returned back to El Dorado, AR and became employed with AP&L Entergy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; one brother, Patrick Murphy and a sister, Stephanie Murphy.

Mickey Joe leaves to cherish his loving memories his children; Ahmad “Boochie” Murphy, Chotsie N. Murphy, Diaz’D. D’Murphy, Ashley D. Murphy and Ahmarley Murphy all of  El Dorado, AR; grand children; James McAlphin of Conway, AR, Jasmine Gentle and Diaz Murphy Jr., of Dallas, TX. Ahmayus Young, Omaury Loggins, Ahmad Murphy Jr., Khi Ingram, Kayden Ingram, Ahmarley Murphy, and Kashi Colvin all of El Dorado, AR. One great granddaughter, Lauren Gentle of Dallas, TX; seven brothers, Billy “Bae Bae” Murphy, JR, Patrick Jerome Murphy, Johnny Murphy, Kenneth Murphy (Valorie), Cederick Cook, Steve Murphy all of El Dorado, AR, and Larry Murphy of San Jose, CA; three sisters, Cassandra Murphy, Sharron Murphy and Tiffany Tidwell all of El Dorado, AR; his grandmother, Willie B. Coggins of El Dorado, AR and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and plenty of friends with a special best friend, Brother Bishop George Calloway whom he loved so much.

Public visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church #2.
