Maurice Hegler Jr.

October 2, 1998 — September 8, 2024

Maurice Hegler Jr.

Maurice, a graduate of Camden Fairview in 2017, was a talented football player. His passion for driving led him to obtain his CDL license from Pine Bluff Truck Driving School in 2022. He was an active member of New St. Mary's Church in Camden, Arkansas, where his grandfather, Rev. Odell Carr, was the guiding force.

Maurice loved his son Mauri with everything in him. He would fish any day of the week. Most of his time was spent working or at home playing the game, sitting directly in front of the television. He and Zay would share the responsibility of cooking and cleaning. He was an extraordinary example of a hands-on Dad who refused to live in a different home. Even through ups and downs, he and Zay spent eight years together. The first home he knew in Camden was Lincoln Center; from that came a gang of friends that everyone referred to as the Centa boys. That group remained friends throughout their School years and even after. Maurice was always in good spirits and tried to stay positive. He would tell people that no matter what, his mother was going to come through for her children. His mother pushed and cheered for him to get his CDL like his father. He stayed connected with his siblings, whom he loved very dearly. Blue was his favorite color; eventually, his friends started calling him Blu. He had a very special group of friends that he called his brothers. His closest bond was with his little sister Demyi'on (Boosie). They were two peas in a pot.

Maurice is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Mae McGraw McHenry, grandfather Maryland McRae Jr., great-grandparents John and Bernice Hegler, Maryland Sr. and Desibell McRae, Annie Mae McGraw, and Willaism McHenry.

Maurice leaves to cherish his memories his son, ZaMaurius Hegler, Father Maurice L. Hegler; mother, Desmona McGraw Wysinger; long-term companion, Zaykerria Haynie; two sisters, Demyjion Hegler and Erica McHenry, brother, Laterreon Beck, nephew, LaTerreon Beck Jr., nieces, Camry Smith and Daniya Beard, grandfathers, Randy McHenry, & Odell Carr, grandmother Brenda Carr, grandfather Richard Smith, and Great Grandmother Iserine Mc Henry, and Godsister, OceAnna Davis. He also leaves a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
