On May 21, 1973, God blessed Gwen Champion, Lethaniel Champion, and Kenneth C. Willis with a handsome baby boy in Strong, Arkansas. They named him Lethaniel Champion, Jr.
Lethaniel accepted Christ at a very early age and united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Strong, Arkansas.
He was a 1991 graduate of Strong High School in Strong, Arkansas, where he played on the basketball team. Great players are strong with the ball. They rip through hard on offense, "chin" all rebounds, and don't expose the ball when dribbling. Great players play under control and play at different speeds and know that playing slow can be very effective - He was that player. After high school, he began his work career with Conagra Poultry Company in El Dorado, Arkansas.
"Do-Lute," as his family and friends affectionally called him, enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandson. His sense of humor was immeasurable, and everyone that came in contact with him would always remember the sweet inspiration about the goodness of God. His incredible bond with his siblings was amazing; he exemplified what a true family was supposed to be. He was loved by everyone in his presence and will truly be missed.
His maternal grandparents; Eddie C. & Florice Smith, paternal grandfather; Nathaniel Champion, Ellis & Billie D. Willis, Aunts; Tora Vasha Smith, Lillie Faye Pylant and Lafretta Smith, Uncles; Ray Smith, Ricky Smith, and nephew; Chino Lovett all preceded him in death. On August 8, 2022, Lethaniel gained his wings and ascended to an eternal life of rest and peace that only his Creator, God Almighty, could give.
He leaves his cherished memories to his daughter: Shantelia RaSha Champion of El Dorado, Arkansas, and son; Lequlis Trivon Champion of Dallas, Texas. His parents: Gwen Champion and his fathers; Lethaniel Champion (Betty), all of Strong, Arkansas, and Kenneth C. Willis of El Dorado, Arkansas. Four sisters: Tora Rodgers, Cartersia Bolton, both of Strong, Arkansas, Cotinna Johnson (Michael) of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Tamara Willis of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Three brothers: Marcus Wayne (Michelle) of El Dorado, Arkansas, Neal Rogers (Marilyn), and Edward Champion, both of Strong, Arkansas. One grandson: LaMarion RaShaud Robinson of El Dorado, Arkansas. His special grandmother: Ida Lee Champion of Strong, Arkansas. He also leaves a host of Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and cousins who loved him dearly.
