Kenneth R. Mitchell ”J Bird” was born in El Dorado, AR to Fannie Talley Mitchell Thompson and Frank Williams. He departed this life May 5, 2018 at his home. He united with Olive Branch Baptist Church at a young age, and was an employee of Clean Harbors Environmental Services for 36 years until his health failed. He loved to play the lottery, scratch-offs and dominoes. He is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. He is survived by eight children: Ruthie Love of Smackover AR, Erika Mitchell of El Dorado, AR, Valerie Candler of Little Rock, AR, Fred Williams of El Dorado, AR, Darrell Love of El Dorado, AR, Devin Mitchell of Little Rock, AR, Darius McAlphin of El Dorado, AR, Lamont King of Arlington, TX; a special friend, Joyce Powell of El Dorado, AR; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a special niece, Tamiya Watts and a special nephew, Lamond Mitchell; three sisters, Earnestine White of Smackover, AR, Angela Martin (Derrick) of El Dorado, AR, and Lillie Kennedy (Earl) of Cedar Hill, TX; six brothers, Alvin Mitchell of El Dorado, AR, Jimmy Mitchell of Camden, AR, Roy Mitchell (Bertha) of El Dorado, AR, Richard Williams of El Dorado, AR, Greg Williams (Shanetta) of Lancaster, TX, and Eddie Lyons of (Ella) El Dorado, AR. He also leaves his Clean Harbors family, as well as, a host of relatives and friends. Public visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday May 11, 2018 at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at First Apostolic Church with Rev. Chester Baker, pastor and Rev. James Charles Levingston, eulogist. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
