James Parks Sr. was born June 28, 1932, in Baird, MS, to Horace and Sally Parks. He relocated to Detroit, MI, and remained there until 1979, when he retired from Firestone Tire Company and moved to Strong, AR, the hometown of his wife, Gertie, who preceded him in death.
He departed this life on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Baptist Health Center in Little Rock, AR.
James was known in the Strong, El Dorado, and Crossett communities as a master carpenter, productive farmer, and jack of all trades.
He was a member of Springhill M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Harris.
James will be truly missed by his son: James Parks, Jr. (Monica) of St. Marcus, TX; a sister: Bertha Marsh of Detroit, MI; longtime friend: Bobby Dugal of Strong, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and friends.
