James Harris

James Harris was born on October 5, 1962, in El Dorado, AR. He was the son of Hester Ray Harris Sr. and Bertha Lee Manning.

He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1982. After high school, he laid concrete and worked on cars until he became employed by Georgia Pacific, where he worked as a machine operator for over a decade. James was well known in the community for his contagious laugh and smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He departed this earthly world on February 23, 2025, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, AR.

He is preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents, his parents (Hester and Bertha), seven brothers- Willie Jr Burris, Curtis Burris, Leroy Burris, Robert Lee Baxter, Jerry Baxter, Ray Jr Harris, David Lee Harris, four sisters-Mary Helen Baxter, Rena Mae Baxter, Queen Esther Baxter, Gloria Jean Harris, and one grandchild (Quinecia Shelton).

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: two daughters, Jamaria(Laquincy)Shelton and Mary (George) Daniels, five sisters- Mary Alice Baxter, Angela Harris, Sharon (Charles Wayne) Holmes, Stephanie Hall-Harris, Rose (Larry) Holmes, two brothers-Hester Ray (Rosalind)Harris Jr, Anthony Dewayne Harris, Sr. and eight grandchildren- Alajah Shelton, Tajah Edmondson, Jordan Daniels, Laquincy Shelton, Danquez Shelton, Charalyn Rester, Jailyn Daniels, Jurnee Daniels, and Jenaysia Shelton, one great-granddaughter- A'loria Moody and a host of self-proclaimed favorite(because he loved them all the same and showed no difference) nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
