Ira Elliott Jr. lovingly known as Buddy was born in Dubach, LA. on August 20,1937 to the late Ira Elliott Sr and Lealor Smith Halton. He was raised by his maternal grandparents the late Steve and Jennie O’ Guinn Smith in Mt. He joined New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member until his passing. He was educated in the New Hope School district in Mt. Holly AR.  He always looked forward to the New Hope school reunions so he could fellowship and reminisce with his childhood schoolmates. He enjoyed supporting and cheering on the local schools’ basketball and football teams.

Buddy was a unique class of people who loved God’s great outdoors and working with his hands. This led to a lifelong career in the farming and construction field.  Psalm128:2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.

He worked for Walter F. Smith Farm for over 40 years and Jerry Hegwood Construction until his health began to fail.

Psalm 18:22Whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing.

On February 3, 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to Jeanette Gordon. To this union four children were born.   “To have and to hold till death do us part”.
