Ms. Hazel Faye Hunter was born June 3, 1937, to the late Wilson Hunter and Onie (Miles) Hunter in Union County, Arkansas. She united with Mt. Sinai Freewill Baptist Church at an early age and later united with Hatters Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Haynesville, LA. She reunited with Mt. Sinai Freewill Baptist Church prior to her going home to be with her Father in Heaven.
Ms. Hazel Faye Hunter was united in Holy Matrimony to Elder Troy C. Gray on September 16, 1956, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2001. To this union, two children were born (Levern and Evangelean). She later adopted her niece, Bridget, and her granddaughter, Evonne. She later remarried Mr. Leroy Woods, in which she leaves to mourn her passing along with the following bonus children: Trayvon Woods, Jualean Woods, Leonard Wayne Woods (Wanda).
She departed this life on February 7, 2025, at Courtyard Rehabilitation Health Center in El Dorado, Arkansas. She leaves to mourn one son: Levern (Rosemary) Gray of El Dorado, Arkansas; three daughters: Evangelean (Terry) Sanders of El Dorado, Arkansas, Bridget Clay Hunter of Arlington, Texas; and Evonne Nicole Gray-Ellis of El Dorado, Arkansas; one brother: Elmer Hunter of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters: Voncile Crayton of Kansas City, Missouri and Johnnie Sams of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren: Terra Sanders, Zachary Sanders (Karena), Nick Sanders Sr. (Eureka), Saziè Henry, and Sherwood Henry II; ten great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (one great-grandchild preceded her in death), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
