George Robinson, Jr. was born April 25, 1926 to George and Mary McCoy Robinson in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
George accepted Christ at a very early age and united with the Curry Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Strong, Arkansas.
He attended school at Franklin Parish in Louisiana. After high school George began working to support his family but never failed to let his children know the importance of education. George was drafted in the US Army early in life.
George married the love of his life on March 13, 1949, Fannie Ruth Ford. They were the best of friends for nearly their entire lives of seventy years and to this union eight children were born.
Black George- Drag as he was affectionally called by his family and friends was an extremely hard worker and great provider for his family. He worked for Anthony Forest Products, Georgia Pacific and finished his work career at El Dorado High School as a maintenance worker.
Drag favorite past time was grilling his favorite meats and inviting all his friends over to sample his cooking. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his great friend, Paul. Most importantly, Drag could be found sitting under his carport talking much noise, using his favorite wording and telling his favorite lies with his friends. George was a very loving, strong man who loved his family. His grandchildren held a precious place in his life and his home was always a place open to the public and where love abided. You could always count on being received well, treated hospitably and fed like a king.
His parents, three brothers; Nathaniel Robinson, Sydney Robinson and Leslie Robinson, four grandchildren; Stacy Robinson, Darren Reed, Baby Bruce and Natalie Ford and his god-brother; Lucious (Bo) Daniels all preceded him in death. George departed this life on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, Arkansas.
He leaves his cherished memories to his wife of seventy years; Fannie Ruth Robinson of Strong, Arkansas. One daughter; Lorraine Reed (Orlando) of El Dorado, Arkansas. Seven sons; Freddie Robinson (Earlene), Eddie James Robinson, Freeman Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Lawrence Robinson all of Strong, Arkansas, Bruce Allen Robinson of Marion, Louisiana and George Lamar Robinson (Quita) of El Dorado, Arkansas. Two sisters; Letha Payne (Floyd) of Oakland, California and Katie Burton of Los Angeles, California. Nineteen grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren. His special friends; The Smith Boys – Percy and Donald, Paul Lawrence, Kal Tucker, Orlando Reed and Donna Miner. His special caregivers; Joyce Holmes, Raven Honeycutt and Rena Fuller.
