Frances Saunders

May 16, 1946 — September 19, 2021

Frances Smead (Sturges) Saunders was born on May 16, 1946 to the late Theodore Roosevelt (T.R.) and Ethel (Carey) Sturges in Mt. Holly Arkansas. Frances gave her life to Christ at 12 years old at New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Adams. She also, joined Hartford Memorial Baptist church where she sang in the choir under the leadership of Rev. Charles Adams in Detroit, MI. Frances received her early education in the New Hope school system, graduating as valedictorian of her class.

Frances attended AM & N (UAPB) College for 2 years after which she relocated to Detroit, MI and attended Bakers college receiving her bachelor and master's degrees.

Frances was employed at General Motors and retired in August 2006 after 34 1/2 years of service. After retirement she relocated to San Antonio, Texas in 2013 where she remained until her death. She departed this life on September 19, 2021 at the age of 75.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister (Betty). and one nephew, (Keith) Utsey.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: 2 daughters, Latonya (Lockhart) White and Alta (Saunders) Woodson (Thomas), 9 grandchildren Marquita Green (Jason), Samuel White, Miesha White, Shuka White, Kierra White, Essenchal White, Maia Woodson, Thomas Woodson IV, and Devon Woodson, and 11 great grandchildren. One sister Linda Wilson of north Little Rock, Arkansas, one brother Jacques (Wanda) Sturges of Mt. Holly, Arkansas. One uncle Bobby (Jean) Carey of Little Rock, Arkansas. One aunt Mildred Miller of Detroit, Michigan, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special friends: Helene Crayton, Mildred Murray, and Jeanette Elliot.
