Pastor Eugene Jethro Farley Sr. was born October 10, 1959, in Memphis, TN, to the late Walter and Lula Mae Farley.
Pastor Farley graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1978 and attended Arkansas State University, studying Criminology. He grew up with a love of music and sang in a gospel quartet for 25 years.
Pastor Farley confessed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age at New Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Crawfordsville, Arkansas. Later in life, Pastor Farley was licensed and ordained into the ministry under the leadership of Rev. John J. Mitchell Sr. The Lord then called him to pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Twist, AR. After Pastor Mitchell's passing, the Lord chose Pastor Farley to succeed him in pastoring New Mt. Pisgah M.B.C. During his time there; he founded U.C.A.N. (United Christian Achievement Network). Pastor Farley also served for many years in the C.M.B.S.C.A., Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Congress of Arkansas.
On June 8, 1985, he married the love of his life, Patricia Farley (Hemphill). God blessed them with three beautiful children (Ashera, EJ, and Gabrielle). Eugene and Patricia remained married for 37 years. Each year was filled with God, love, and ministry.
Pastor Farley fulfilled his duty as pastor at New Mt. Pisgah until May 2002. He became pastor at Olive Branch Baptist Church in El Dorado, AR. After the burning of Olive Branch, Pastor Farley led the rebuilding of the new church, which we now call New Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Pastor Farley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and preacher of the Gospel. He loved and adored his family; they were his pride and joy. Pastor Farley lived a life full of service and ministry. He desired to provide his family, church, and community with help, hope, & healing. Pastor Farley had a genuine love for people, and he never met a stranger. He was a true servant that served with passion for the kingdom of God. Whenever and wherever there was a need, anyone could call Pastor Farley, and he would be there no matter what. He would make it happen whenever he was called upon with love, a smile, and God in his heart. Before his health began to fail, he encouraged his family and church to trust in God.
Pastor Farley served the church and community until he heard the Lord say well done, thy good and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
