He departed this life on February 1, 2022, at Oakridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Davis Shutes; a son Ernest Tony Smith; three brothers, Doug Shutes, Carl Shutes, and Jamie Shutes; and two Sisters; Julia Gomillion and Leola Aaron.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Wanda Faye Jackson (Joe) of El Dorado, Arkansas, one son, Steve Frazier of San Diego, California, one stepdaughter Cadaice Davis of Little Rock, Arkansas, three grandchildren; Treymond Smith, Latoya Wilson (Mike) and Whitney Frazier.
