Chairman Darrid Anthony Cooksey was born October 23, 1961 in El Dorado to the late James and Jeanette Cooksey. He accepted Jesus Christ at a young age while attending First Baptist Church on Cordell Street under the pastorship of the late Dr. Rev. E.A. Porchia. Later he joined the Sunlight Church of God in Christ under the pastorship of Supt. Charles Booker, Emetrius Pastor and current Pastor, Pastor Herbert Ridgell, Jr. He was Overseer of sunlight COGIC alongside Mother Dianne Tubbs, he was also a trustee board member of Sunlight COGIC., and an El Dorado High school graduated of the class of 1981.
On February 18, 1995 he married his devoted wife, Arlinda Rena Shutes-Cooksey, unto this union he was blessed with one son, Brodrick Williams of Dallas, Tx; three daughters, Dieasha Owens of Dallas, Tx, Crystal Owens- Browning (Marquis) of Arkadelphia, AR, Shacole Cooksey of Maumelle, AR. He had eight grandchildren; Derrion Owens, Dreya Owens, Dallas Owens, Lyric Browning, Lyeric Browning, Cryslie Browning, Laylah Moore, and Kenslee Williams.
Chairman Cooksey is preceded in death by his Father, James Cooksey and his brother, Carl Green (Vanessa).
He leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Arlinda Rena Cooksey; his children, Brodrick Williams, Dieasha Owens, and Crystal Owens-Browning (Marquis), Shacole Cooksey;; his mother, Jeanette Cooksey; three sisters, Diannah Cooksey, Lorrie Cooksey,(Keith) Andrea Richardson (Rodney) all of El Dorado, AR; One brother, Ricky Wax (Lashondra) of Dallas, TX; sister in laws, brother in laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and church family. And a special thanks to Rodney Holmes.
