Charlotte Michele Cole-Hall passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020, at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock at the age of 53. She was the youngest child born to the union of Jimmy Reed, Jr. and Ruby Thigpen Reed on May 20, 1967, in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Charlotte was baptized at a young age at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in El Dorado where she faithfully attended and served in many capacities until she relocated for career advancement. She subsequently united with churches in Texas and Georgia, including her current church family, Greater Traveler’s Rest (House of Hope) in Atlanta, Georgia. She was also a member of Derrick City Temple #352 (IBPOEW) and the El Dorado Pride and Progress Club.
Charlotte was an early graduate of the El Dorado High School Class of 1985. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Strayer University, and Master of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. In 2001, Charlotte was united in marriage to Anthony Hall, formerly of Altadena, California. At the time of her death, she worked as a Senior Cost & Price Analyst for American States Utilities Services. She also previously worked in the corporate offices of Georgia Pacific, Home Depot, JCPenney, Celanese and Xerox.
Anyone who spent significant time with her quickly picked up on Charlotte’s commitment to the institution of family. She was a devoted daughter to her mother, supporter of her siblings, and mentor to her nieces and nephews. She was instrumental in building and rebuilding bridges, and in maintaining open lines of communication among her nuclear and extended family members. Charlotte was the heartbeat of her family and her love for them knew no bounds. With her passing, she leaves a hole only her heart was big enough to fill.
Charlotte was a traveling, free-spirited, good-time-having, loyal ally, who knew no strangers. To friends and family alike, she was a teacher, encourager, champion and protector. She recognized and nurtured potential. She encouraged everyone around her to strive for personal fulfillment, and she cultivated the resiliency in her own life that enabled her to model diligence and to overcome her own obstacles and setbacks. She will be remembered as the engineer of countless family reunions, surprise birthday parties, weddings, graduation celebrations, and other special occasions.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father and infant daughter, Shanika Cole. She is survived by her husband, mother, six children: Chelsea Cole (Warren, AR), Cortlandt Cole and Channing Hall (Atlanta), NáTavia Hall (Ft. Worth, TX), Anthony Hall, Jr. and Jordan Hall (Reno, NV); six siblings: Ruby Moore (Ronnie) (Ft. Wayne, IN), Larry Reed and Bruce Reed (El Dorado), Susan Reed-Allen (Johnny) (Urbana, MD), Brittany Reed and Whitney Reed (El Dorado); and eight grandchildren.
