Charlie "Skeet" Leroy Powell Jr.

Charlie Leroy Powell, Jr. was born July 10, 1966 to the parentage of Charlie L. Powell, Sr. and Cloatee Johnson Powell.  He was the second child of four.  Growing up he was known as “SKEET”.  He acquired the name skeet from his dad. 

When he looked in the hospital nursery window and saw he had a son he was so happy he yelled “there’s my little skeeter”.

CHARLIE confessed his belief in Christ at an early age at Snowhill Missionary Baptist Church, Smackover, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend William Jamerson.

CHARLIE received his education in the Smackover School District.  He graduated from Smackover High School, Smackover, Arkansas in 1984.  Shortly after graduating he relocated to Dallas, Texas. 

CHARLIE was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.  He was fun and outgoing.  He had a heart for people and knew no Strangers.   It is laughter and loving nature has truly made an impact on the world and he will be greatly missed my many.

CHARLIE became an employee of Pioneer Balloon Company March of 1986.  He worked hard and was promoted to a lead position, then to a supervisor.  He held the position until the Lord called him home on December 15, 2018.  He was employed with Pioneer Balloon Company for thirty-two years.

CHARLIE and Teresa were joined in Holy Matrimony in 2003, in Gahanna, Ohio.

CHARLIE is preceded in death by his father Charlie L. Powell, Sr., his mother Cloatee J. Powell, and daughter Shequilla D. Davis.

CHARLIE leaves cherished memories to his wife of Sixteenyears Teresa Powell, three son’s Courtney Powell, Jerron Jones both of Dallas, Texas, Tevin Goodin of Columbus, Ohio.  One daughter Quinette Banks, Anniston, Ohio, Four grandsons; Jamarkis Jones Dallas, Texas, Jayden Ray Columbus Ohio, Demetrice Banks, Anniston Ohio and Landen Goodin, Columbus, Ohio.  Four granddaughters; Brooklyn Jones, Dallas, Texas, Ebony Goodin, Farrah Goodin, and Logan Goodin all of Columbus, Ohio, three sisters Charlene (Darryl) Minor, Norphlet, Arkansas, Charlotte (Billy) McAdoo, and Melanie (Patrick) Dickerson both of Smackover, Arkansas, And a host of aunts, uncles, in-laws, cousins, friends and his favorite pet Deisy.

Public visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2018 from 12-5pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 11:00am at New Providence Baptist Church under the direction of Sims Mortuary with interment at Primm Cemetery. Sign the guestbook online at www.simsmortuary.com
