Our beloved Arma Ruth Arrington departed her earthly home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the South Arkansas Regional Hospital.
From labor to reward, she labored here for 84 glorious years until the Lord gently took her hand and welcomed her into her new Heavenly home.
Arma was born in Grambling, Louisiana, to the late DeWitt and Eliza Arrington on August 14, 1939. The family moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, when she was a child, where she resided until her Heavenly transition.
She attended Washington High School in El Dorado. She spent many years working at several nursing homes, the last being at Hillsboro Nursing Home for nearly seventeen years. Arma was fond of her family and enjoyed attending the Grambling State University football games with her road buddy sister Margie. She also enjoyed watching sports, working puzzle books, watching television, and cleaning. Although she enjoyed these hobbies, her greatest joy was rearing her son in a God-fearing home. With the help of her father and other family members, she ensured he was provided the best care and tough love. She also encouraged him to further his education by attending college and to continue performing and perfecting his musical talents. Her motherly encouragement gave him that extra confidence boost as he became a member of the Grambling State University band, something he loved and excelled in.
She had such a sweet and funny personality and wasn't afraid to express her thoughts or feelings at any moment. Arma was loved and respected by her family and friends in El Dorado and Grambling. She will be sorely missed, and the memory of her beautiful smile will remain in the hearts of those who loved and adored her, including the staff at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation. Even on the days, she experienced pain or illness, her complaints were minimal. She continuously thanked God for allowing her to see another day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt and Eliza Arrington; two sisters, Mona R. Arrington, and Dezie R. Arrington; twin infant brothers, Herman and Thurman Arrington; and an infant great nephew, Patrick Levingston, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Troyce (Laquelia "Keeya") Smith of Brusly, LA; one sister, Margie Lyons of El Dorado, AR; two granddaughters, Ivyana and Rhylee Smith of Brusly, LA; two uncles, Joseph Arrington of Grambling, LA, and Lanis Thompson of Lillie, LA; four nieces, Consuela Levingston, Shawana Frazier, Tia Lyons, and LaToya Lyons; two nephews, Delfino Frazier and Orlando Frazier, all of El Dorado, AR; a host of great nieces and one great nephew, along with other extended relatives and friends.
