Andrew "Billy" Jackson

Andrew “Billy” Jackson, Jr, 88, of Los Angeles, CA, formerly of El Dorado, AR, passed away on March 5, 2023, in Orlando, FL.

Andrew was born in El Dorado, AR, to Andrew Jackson, Sr & Willie Ester Tatum on February 3, 1935. 

He joined Zion Watch Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until he relocated to California.

He attended Washington High School, where he was on the basketball, baseball, and football teams. He was a quarterback for the Washington Hornets and was voted the Most Popular Boy of his class.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1954. After being honorably discharged, he moved to California, where he worked and retired from the County of Los Angeles.

He was a founding member and Treasurer of the Searchers Social and Charity Club, a club that was made up of fellow close friends and schoolmates from El Dorado.

Andrew was a sharp dresser. Dress shoes or cowboy boots were always his shoes of choice!

Andrew loved his family and always made sure they had everything they needed. He loved to take his family on outings and vacations. He loved fixing things. Anything that broke, he was there to fix it. He had a side job fixing televisions to make extra money. Whenever he came home to visit, he enjoyed going to the spa in Hot Springs, AR, attending college football games, and of course, El Dorado Days. Later in the years, he visited Africa & Hawaii. He also loved going to Las Vegas; however, his favorite thing to do there was hit the buffets and sleep!

Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah, and one grandson, Marcus O. Jackson. Three sisters, Doris, Chloe, and Faye, and one brother, Jerry, all resided in the San Francisco area.

Andrew is survived by his children, Victor & Gregory Jackson of El Dorado, AR; Rosalyn Baur of Scottsdale, AZ and Nedra Jackson of Gardena, CA.

Grandchildren: Michael Jackson, Justin Palmer, Victor Jackson, Jr; CeCe & Nicole Jackson of El Dorado, AR; Dominic Jackson of Gardena, CA; Sebastian Baur of Scottsdale, AZ; and Michele A. Jackson of Dallas, TX.

7 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Granddaughter, and a host of other family and friends.
