Joe Lewis Christian

II Corinthinas 5:1 Joe Lewis Christian was born October 2, 1935 in Strong, Arkansas the son of John Wallace and Mary Ella Christian. Joe was a hard working family man. He worked for Georgia Pacific in El Dorado, Arkansas for 35 years as a lumber grader and foreman. At the age of sixty-two he retired and went home to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Although he thoroughly enjoyed these activities, nothing came before family. Joe was a member of the Early View Lodge #181. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was educatd in the Gardner School System. In 1967, he united in Holy Matrimony to Emma Jo Robinson, where unto this union, three children were born, Earline, John and Katyna. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Edward "Sam" Lee Christian, Asa MInor Christian, Bubba Christian and one sister, Odessa Wilbert. Joe departed this earthly life on Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, in El Dorado, Arkansas. Joe's loving memories will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of forty-three years, Emma Christian of Strong, Arkansas, two sons, John Christian of Grand Prairie, Texas and Sammy(Terry)Aaron of Kennedale, Texas, four daughters, Earline(Lee)Barnes of El Dorado, Arkansas and Katyna Christian of Allen, Texas, Mary(Willie)Hill of Lancaster, Texas and Pamela Christian of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandsons, one great-grandson, one great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will trully miss him. Funeral Services for Joe will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Urbana, Arkansas at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. W. T. Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery,Urbana, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation for Joe will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at the funeral home from 9am to 5pm.
