Leo Gatson

"For I am now ready to be offered, and hte time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:6-7 Leo Gatson was born in Laran, Louisiana on March 30, 1935 the son of Hezekiah and Minor Boyette Gatson. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in El Dorado, Arkansas. At an early age, Leo joined Countyline Baptist Church in Laran, LA and later continued in fellowship with New Jerusalem Christian Ministy in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a retiree of Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Crossett, Arkansas where he worked for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Carlos Gatson, brothers, Fonie, Cleo, Louis, Lucas and Lovell Gatson; sisters, Milie Gatson Andrews and Daisy Gatson Bates. Leo leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 54 years, Frances Gatson of Strong, Arkansas; sons, Terrance(Ronmunda) and Arriun Gatson of El Dorado, Arkansas; daughters, Cherly Leichmon of Strong, Arkansas, Pastor LaDebra (George, Jr.)Vanhook, Rachell Gatson and Sherry(Kevin)Benton all of El Dorado, Arkansas; a brother, Emmitt Gatson of Detroit, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Sequinn Leichmon(Stalo)Rachael, Kayla and Shianne Gatson, Marshay and Mariunna Wayne, Brittany and Maya Reynolds, and Asani Furlow; sixteen great-grandchildren, a host of neices, nephews, family and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Gatson will beld on Saturday, February 27,2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostals of El Dorado Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with Pastor LaDebra Vanhook officiating. Interment will follow in the Countyline Cemetery, Laran, Louisiana under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation for Mr. Gatson will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 from 9am-5pm and Saturday, February 27, from 8:30am-12:00 noon.
