Erma Gean Morehead

August 27, 1955 — June 7, 2017

Erma Gean Morehead, fondly known as Gean, was born August 27, 1955 in Chidester, AR to the late Lacy Mae Douglas and Lemis “LG” Trammell. She was the oldest of six children. On Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 4:30am the Lord saw fit to bring her home for a well deserved rest. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with Bethel AME Church, Chidester, AR. After marriage, she united with New Bethel AME Church, Buena Vista, Arkansas. Years later, she became a member of Whelen Springs Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C)/ (consolidated) Rocky Hill C.O.G.I.C where she was an active member until her health failed. She was a member of the choir, hospitality committee, a custodian, Sunday school superintendent, church clerk, and the secretary for Tate’s Bluff Cemetery. Erma was a 1974 graduate of Chidester High School, Chidester, AR. She was employed with Chidester Senior Citizens Center for years and later employed with Camden Fairview School District until her retirement in 2016. She always found herself busy trying to give her best to those who needed to be served; whether it was in the church, community work, etc…she tirelessly worked to show and never hesitated to tell those around her the goodness of the Lord. She lived a humble life and was honored to be available to give a word of encouragement, a shoulder to cry on, a firm word of correction or whatever was needed at the time; always remembering to give God the glory, honor and praise for whatever she did. Even as her health started to fail and she was not able to do things as she wanted, she still refused to be a burden to her family and friends, by finding the strength to keep going as much as she could because of her relationship with God. Nevertheless, she was the picture of faithfulness and we will never be the same without her. Those that preceded her in death are: her parents; two brothers, Larry and Gary Trammell, and one sister, Lisa Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her stepmother, Johnnie (C.W) Goodwin; three children, Cassandra (Kendall) Owens of Killeen, TX., Veronica Minor of El Dorado, AR., and Anthony Morehead of Gurdon, AR.; five grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Alexia, K’Zarriah, Kennedy, Chandler and Ty’Korian (Ty) and one great-granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Gabriella (Gabby); her stepchildren, Mona (Coby) Heard, Pamela Robinson, Sandra (Ben)Harris, Vivian Goshen, Michael Morehead, Vernon Morehead, and Vincent Morehead; two sisters, Tammy(James)Miller, Kim (Calvin)Bonds and one brother, Donald Trammell; several aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins ; a host of friends, co-workers, church family and a special friend, (Paw-Paw) Lorenzo Morehead. Public visitation will be on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 12-6pm at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren, 119 Van Buren St. Camden, AR. Homegoing services will begin at 1pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Greater Love C.O.G.I.C, 447 Sycamore Ave, Camden, AR with Pastor Recarto King, eulogist. Interment will be at Tate’s Bluff Cemetery, Chidester, AR under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Repast will be at Rocky Hill C.O.G.I.C.
