"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..." Psalms 23 A Time to be BORN: Marie was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on August 23, 1917 to the parents of Ollie and Rosie Collins Hicks. A Time to CHANGE: Marie accepted Christ and united with First Baptist Church-Cordell at an early age in life. She was the oldest member of the church on record. She was a faithful and truly dedicated servant. A Time to SHARE: Marie was an individual who never met a stranger. She loved her family and enjoyed life. A Time to LOVE: Marie fell in love and united in matrimony to James Nelson to this union they were blessed with one child, Ronald. A Time to say FAREWELL: Marie was called home to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. A Time to MOURN: Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and two sisters. Marie leaves to cherish her loving memories one son, Ronald Nelson of Detroit, Michigan; one sister, Rev. Frances Virginia Hicks of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren, Erick Nelson and Faith Collette Murphy; five great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friend who will miss her dearly. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church-Cordell, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Pierce Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Norphlet, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Friday, September 11, from 8:30am to 9:30pm.
