Marjorie L. Sanders

November 3, 1919 — January 29, 2017

Marjorie Sanders was born on November 3, 1919, in Upland, Arkansas to the union of John Henry Broadnax and Martha Traylor. She accepted Christ an early age and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church. She later united with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where she served as the pianist for several years, on the finance committee and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and was a master Gardner. She was an Eastern Star, a member of the Self Culture Club, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Ms. Marjorie passed on Sunday, January 29, 2017 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband Charley Sanders, her parents, six brothers and five sisters. She was survived by two special god-daughters, Rena Faye Gentle and CleVester Williams; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her immensely. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Sims Mortuary. A service of celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. John Elliott, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mark Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
