Earlanette Blackmon came into the world on November 4, 1976 and those who were touched by her life would never be the same. Her parents Earl and Georgia knew right away that she would one day make a forever lasting impression in this world. As a baby she was active and exploratory; she warmed up easily to anyone and possessed an infectious giggle and smile that would melt any heart. As a little girl she was baptized and united with Greater Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. She was an active member of the youth department and sung in the choir. The family later returned to Urbana and she united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was an exemplary student at Strong High School where she graduated in 1994. She was very outgoing and made friends with all races. Earlanette knew the value and worth of being a true friend. She loved being in the company of family and friends; and was often the center of attention. She furthered her studies and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1998 with a degree in computer information systems. While in school she pledged and became a proud member of the Sigma Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in 1997. Earlanette worked in computer programming for two years in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She later moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas and united with Shiloh Baptist Church. Earlanette worked for the Arkansas Department of Information Systems until her health began to decline. She was known to be tough and a fighter; she greeted life and its circumstances with a style and grace all her own. However, it was her faith and trust in the Lord that carried her through until the end. Earlanette was a fun-loving young woman who enjoyed giving others flowers for their birthday and special occasions. She focused a lot of energy on doing for others and was creative in giving the most thoughtful gifts to surprise her family and friends. Although she had no children of her own, she cherished her nieces and nephews as her children. She was a living example of a giver, as Christ gave His life for the world. To know her was to love her and she will be forever remembered. On Thursday, November 24, 2016, she passed into the Lord’s embrace. Her death has been swallowed up in Victory. Her life has just begun. She leaves to cherish her celebrated life; her loving parents, Earl and Georgia Blackman of Urbana, AR; one sister, Connie (Bill) Holman of Torrance, CA; one niece, Melissa D. Holman of Gardena, CA; one nephew, Bill Holman, III., of Mojave, CA; three great-nephews, two great-nieces, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. Public visitation will be Friday, December 2, 2016 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. Sims Mortuary. A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mt. Zion No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. B. E. Artis, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
