Maceo Mayweather was born Feb. 28, 1952, to parents, Willie Mayweather and Mandy Williams Mayweather. He confessed his faith in Christ Jesus and joined Mount Willie Baptist Church in El Dorado at an early age. Later in life he joined Sweet Home Baptist Church in Smackover. He then joined Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Lewisville. He graduated from Parkers Chapel High School and later joined the United States Army and served from 1972 to 1974, then served in the United States Army Reserve for 12 years. He was united in holy matrimony on May 24, 1971, to Frances Modica and to this union three children were born. He retired from AmerCable, due to injury, in 1986. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Mayweather; and one brother, Ira Dell Lamkin. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Modica Mayweather of Smackover; his son, Maceo Mayweather Jr. of Houston; two daughters, LaKishia Mayweather of Lewisville, and Mandy Mayweather of Smackover; five grandchildren; his mother, Mandy Mayweather of El Dorado; seven brothers, Arthur Ray Williams of Three Creeks, Kenneth Mayweather, Willie Earl Mayweather, John Mayweather, Jewel Mayweather, Elmer Mayweather, and James Anthony Mayweather; three sisters, Marilyn Mormon, Mary Eutsey, and Corretha Andrews; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Smackover with the Rev. George Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Hicks Funeral Home under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday July 23,2016
