Frank L. McDaniel, Sr.

"Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 Bro Frank L. McDaniel, Sr. was born to the union of John T.and Gracie Brock McDaniel, on July 3, 1920. He was a life long resident of Union County, El Dorado, Arkansas. At a very early age he united with Free Union A.M.E. Church where he served faithfully until his health failed. His death claimed the last survivor who's name appears on the Corner Stone of the Free Union A.M.E. Church. He loved the church, his family and the Free Union Community. He was a 33 degree Masonic and served as the Worshipful Master for the El Dorado Lodge #151 and was sucessful in chartering El Dorado Consistory #332. He was also a member of Gusher Lodge #560. On September 28th, 1940 he married the late Sylvia Henderson McDaniel, and to this union six children were born. He departed this life on May 25, 2009 at Riverview Care Center, Boosier, Louisiana. His parents, wife of 66 years, one son, Bruce Alan McDaniel, four brothers, Jessie Barfield, Johhny, George, and Charles McDaniel, three sisters, Margie Warren, Dorothy Frazier and Bessie Lovett preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; three sons, Kermit E. McDaniel(Patricia)of Little Rock, Arkansas, Frank L. McDaniel, Jr. (Judy Ann) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Clarence W. McDaniel(Shirley) of El Dorado, Arkansas; one God-son, Chester Ford(Joann) of El Dorado, Arkansas; five sister-in-laws, Ellie McDaniel of Inkster, Michigan, Lillie McDaniel of Kentwood, Louisiana, Idell Henderson of Houston, Texas, Ruth Henderson of Detroit, Michigan and Thelma Henderson of Roxbury, Massachusetts; special family friend, Norvell Lewis of El Dorado, Arkansas; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. McDaniel will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Free Union A.M.E. Church with Rev. Angela Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Memorial Park, El Dorado, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 12noon until 5:00pm and June 2, from 8:30-9:30am. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Frank L.
