A Chapter completed a page turned; a life well lived; a rest well earned...Well done my good and faithful servant... Mrs. Hazel Carey Ross died on January 17, 2009 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Dolphus and Mabel Carey of Wilmot, Arkansas. She was born on August 5, 1934. She was a graduate of Wilmot High School and Philander Smith College. Hazel was a loyal and faithful member of the Greater Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was a retired teacher who served 38 years in the El Dorado School District as a Math Teacher at Washington High School and Rogers Junior(Middle) School. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association, former AEA board member, and former board of trustee, Shorter College, L.C. Ross Scholarship President, and former voting precint judge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coach Lester C. Ross; her parents and her sister, Agatha Coleman. She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters, Deborah Ross Easter of Houston, Texas and Lestine Ross Johnson of Frisco, Texas; two sons, Lester A.(Tony)Ross of Houston, Texas and Kewaukee D. Carey of El Dorado, Arkansas; two grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Ross will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Municipal Auditorium with the Rev. Jerry Ross officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Memorial Garden under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday, January 23, 2009 from 9:00am-5:00pm and Saturday, January 24, 2009.
