"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want....Psalms 23 Sister Jimmie Mae Holt loved the Lord, her family, her church and young people. She was born on December 7, 1921 in Homer, Louisiana. Sister Jimmie Mae Holt was the youngest of four daughters born to Tom and Nannie Tuggle Autry who preceded her in death as well as her sister Bennie Key. Big Mama, as she was affectionately called, married the love of her life, Richard Martin Holt, Sr. and became the proud parents of three adorable children. She encouraged her children and grandchildren enough to teach them to love the Lord, to get and education and to be productive and contributing citizens of this great nation. After accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age, she united with Shiloh Baptist Church in Homer, Louisiana. There, she worshiped and served a living God and worked as secretary of Sunday School for many years. Later, she moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, and united with the First Baptist Church-Cordell. A very humble person she was who believed in the power of prayer and service to tohers. She provided such a service as an employee with the Sisters of Mercy Warner Brown Hospitatl for forty years and retired as a Supervisor of Central Supply. Sister Holt was a Member of the Daughters of Elks, Derrick City Temple. Sister Holt is survived and fondly remembered by her loving, faithful and devoted children; Gordie Slade Holt(Shirley) of North Richland Hills, Texas; Thomasine Snowden(Grady) of El Dorado, Arkansas and Richard Martin Holt, III of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Ethel Wilson and Ossie Autry both of El Dorado, Arkansas and Angeline McElroy of Oakland, California; seven grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces and other relative and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Sister Holt will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Cordell, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Pierce Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Friday, Janaury 9, 2009 from 9am-5pm and Saturday, January 10, from 8:30-9:30am. A family hour will be held on Friday, from 6-7pm.
