Mattie L Owens

Mattie L. Owens was born in Union County, Arkansas March 10, 1940 the daughter of James and Mammie Jenkins Owens. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Oakridge Nursing Home, El Dorado, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter; one brother, Charles; two sisters, Carlee and Pearl; two nephews, one niece and two brother in laws. She attended Star City and later Smackover Training School. After her education she moved to Wilmot, AR then to Houston, TX where she gained employment with the Highway Department of Houston, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age through baptism at First Baptist Church in Houston, TX. She is survived by two grandchildren, Diamond and Dewayne Jackson of Houston, TX; two sisters, Dorothy Harper of Garland, TX and Mary Sanders of Texarkana, TX; two half sisters, Matt Meadows of Junction City, LA and Wallace Sams of Texas; two special nieces, Denita Ford and Brenda Goodwin, both of Smackover, AR. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sims Mortuary Chapel, 432  Liberty Street, El Dorado, AR with Rev. Felton Burgie officiating.
