A Time to Be Born:Brother Wardell Oguin, the son of the late Charlie and Maybelle Ruffin Oguin was born on March 19, 1927 in Riderwood, Alabama.  He was the first of four children born of his parents.A Time to Die:Brother Oguin was bidden to rest on Saturday morning, Marcfh 28, 2105 while at Cherry Ridge Skilled Nursing Facility, Bastrop, Louisiana.  Two brothers and a sister and four of his infant children preceded him in death.A Time to Plant:Brother Wardell Oguin was raised in Strong, Arkansas.  He accepted Christ as Savior at an early age and united with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.  He also attended school in Strong.  He was also a retired Georgia Pacific paper Mill Employee.  As a young adult, Brother Oguin united with New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Briscoe James Jackson.  He remained a member until his death.  As a member, Brother Oguin  faithfully attended worship services at New Bethel until his health failed.A Time to Love:When a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing(Proverbs 18;22).  At the age of 18, Wardell Oguin moved to Crossett, Arkansas where he found 17 year old Evelyn Phifer. Wardell and Evelyn were united in holy matrimony on May 4, 1946.  To this union, five children were born.  Brother Oguin was a devoted family man and a skilled and avid hunter.  He will be remembered for his "sweet" and gentle disposition and his love for life.A Time to Mourn:Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Evelyn Phifer Oguin; a daughter, Louise (James) Hicks of Crossett, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Cathy( Wayman) Lovett of Crossett, Arkansas and Kimberly (Kevin) Davis of Humble, TX; three great-grandchildren, Trey McDaniel, Devonte Tucker, and Joi Holden; a brother Willie "Bill" Oguin of Strong, Arkansas; a special nephew, James Phifer, Sr. of Crossett, Arkansas; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.A homegoing celebration for Brother Oguin will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Crossett, Arkansas with Rev. Jesse L. Radford, Jr. officiating.Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Strong, Arkansas  under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff.Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
