"Oh how sweet for one to lay his head upon the Master's breath.' Sister Earnesting Walker Sanders was born on May 5, 1923 to the late Raleigh and Ada Mae Champ Walker in Homer, Louisiana(Claiborne Parish). In her early teens, she joined the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Hatley. She received her formal education at the Smackover Training School in Smackover, Arkansas. Earnestine was an excellent cook and worked in that capacity for most of her life. Her family and acquaintances fondly remember Sister's delicious soul food preparations along with her humorous disposition. Her parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Her memory will be cherished by two sisters, Alice Walker Chitman of West Helena, Arkansas and Louise Walker Wooten and her husband, Clyde Collins Wooten(C.C.) of Houston, Texas. A host of nephews,neices, cousins and friends. A homegoing ceremony for Mrs. Sanders will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Pierce Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Hicks Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff.
