"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven. "Eccl. 3:1 Roy "Shorty" Willis was born in Mt. Holly, Arkansas September 6, 1940 to the late John D. and Ruth Crawford Willis. At a very early age, he accepted Christ. He united with the Morning Star Baptist Church #2 in El Dorado, Arkansas and later joined Ebenzer Missionary Baptist Church, Strong, Arkansas where he remained faithful until his death. Roy met and married Willie Mae Willis in 1993. He was a dedicated employee for 38 years with Anthony Forest where he worked until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Tom, Johnny Lee and Buster; two sisters, Lillie Mae Jones and Lucille Watts. Roy departed this life on June 25, 2008. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Willie Mae Willis of El Dorado, Arkansas, one daughter, Lois Jean Willis of Lewisville, Arkansas; three sisters, Facie Jones of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Hazel Tidman of Little Rock, Arkansas and Lee McDuffie(Benson) of El Dorado, Arkansas; two nieces, Carolyn Jackson(Brian) and Rose Hill(Richard) both of El Dorado, Arkansas; a host of other relatives and friends. A homegoing celebration for Mr. Willis will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Stigars officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 9am-5pm. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemtery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff.
