"The Lord is my Shepherd" The Lord came and plucked a lovely rose from his garden on Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Sandra LaJoyce Fields Grundy was born on June 11, 1956 in El Dorado, Arkansas the daughter of Vermott and Floria "Jennie" Johnson Bell. She grew up with her grandparents, Leonard and Emma Mae Fields. She departed this life at Life Touch Hospice in El Dorado, Arkansas. At an early age Sandra join St. James Baptist Church and later united with Victory Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas where she was a member of the Praise Team. Sandra graduated from El Dorado High School in 1974 and attended University of Pine Bluff. She later received her Associate Degree from South Arkansas Community College. She met and fell in love with Stephen Grundy and they were united in matrimony in 1976; from this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Talia and Keisha. Sandra and her daughters resided in Indiapolis, Indiana for many years. She dedicated her heart and soul to raising, teaching, preparing and protecting her children While living in Indianpolis,Indiana she worked for E.A.R. Cabot Saftety Company in Quality Control and upon returning to El Dorado, worked for the El Dorado Public School District in Special Education Services. She also worked part-time as a childcare provider for Cross Life Baptist Church. Sandra possessed a kind and giving spirit and always loved to help others. She truly enjoyed playing the piano and spending time with friends and family. She was known as the "foot doctor"(pedicures) Sandra was a productive member to society and her community as well. She was a member of the Republican Party, Arkansas Breast and Cancer Research Committee, Arkansas Education Association, El Dorado Classroom Teachers Association and the University of Arknasas Pine Bluff Alumni Association. Sandra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leonard and Emma Mae Fields. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters, Talia Grundy of Houston, Texas and Keisha Grundy of Ypsilanti, Michigan; her mother, Floria Johnson of Detroit, Michigan and one brother, Irwin Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; one grandchild. A homegoing celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Bible Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Rubie Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 9-5pm and Tuesday, June 24, from 8:30-9:30am. A family hour will be Monday from 6-8pm.
