Birdie the second oldest of seven children was born on October 20, 1929 in Haynesville, Louisiana to Sam and Samelia James both of whom preceded her in death. Birdie met loved and married George Washington Reedy on October 20, 1948 in El Dorado, Arkansas and to this union three children were born, Robert, Evet and Betty. Her loving and devoted husband George preceded her in death. Birdie worked in the Housekeeping Industry for many years and was also an employee of Dixie Maintenance. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour at an early age at Salem Baptist church, Haynesville, Louisiana. After marrying her husband, Deacon George Reedy the family became fully active, faithful members of the Morning Star Baptist Church. Birdie was a faithful member of the choir and member of the Deaconess until she became ill. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, one son, Robert Reedy of El Dorado, Arkansas; two daughters, Evette Flannagan and son in law Willie of Oakland, California, Betty Burrell and son in law, Jim of Valrico, Florida; six grandchildren, Marretta Mitchell, Sonya Jones, Rashad Burrell, Willeen Jones, LaTronya Reedy and Trumaine Burrell; eight great grandchildren; one sister Nettie Dobin that preceded her in death and four sisters, Syletta Ratliff of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Maggie Bland, Tacoma Washington, Minnie Pearl James of Sacremento, California, Sammie Harrison, Gig Harbor, Washington and one brother, Charles James of Tacoma, Washington;one brother in law, Harrison Harris, Gig Harbor, Washington; a host of other relatives and friends. Birdie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, neighbor and friend and beloved by the many lives she touched. Homegoing Services for Sis. Reedy will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Larry Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Cemetery, El Dorado, Arkansas.
