Cortez Smith was born June 18,1916 in Lillie,Louisiana.He was the son of the late Henry P and Lillie Lee Mosley Smith. He was a retired mechanic from the City of El Dorado. He was a faithful member and deacon of the St.John Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed. He departed this life on May 22,2013 at his home surrounded by his family . He was preceded in death by his parents ,wife of 54 years, Hazel L. Penny - Smith , . Three brothers; Ivory Mosley,Melvin Mosley ,and Condrad Williams .Five sisters; Lizzie Williams , Carmeal Kendricks,Bertha Archie, Minnie L. Montgomery and Wordie Bea ; 6 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Surviors include three sons ; Cortez Smith Jr of Pine Bluff,Ar , Carl Smith of El Dorado,Ar ,and Woodrow Parker of Camden,Ar. Five daughters; Ammer J. Williams of Detroit,MI,Audrey McGhee of North Little Rock,AR, Shirlene Holmes,Linda Broadnax and Sandra Hicks all of El Dorado,Ar.Three Brothers;John Henry Smith of Three Creeks, Elmer Smith of El Dorado,Ar ,and Eugene Smith of Junction City ,LA. One sister; Luteen Alderson of Columbus,OH. 31 grandchildren, 96 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren . Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday , May, 28, 2013 and on Wednesday May 29,2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. . A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday , May 29 at St.John Missionary Baptist Church with Rev.Barry Dobson officiating .Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery Lillie,Louisiana Services are under the direction of the Sims Mortuary, Inc.
