Perry Jefferson

"The Lord is my Sheperd, I shall not want" Psalms 23 Deacon Perry Jefferson was born on December 27, 1927 in Litro, Louisiana, the son of Perry and Tee Ward Jefferson. Bro. Jefferson accepted Christ at an early age, saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in Strong, AR under the leadership of Pastor Elder Lewis Cook at Starlight Church of God in Christ where he served as Deacon. Under other leaders he also served, Supt. Pastor H. Butts, Bishop Satterwhite and later moved to Phillipians Church of God in Christ in Huttig, Arkansas under the leadership of Elder Supt. H.J. Easter, where he served on the Deacon Board for over thirty four years, Trustee Board for thirty-four years, Sunday School Superintendent for eighteen years, Chairman and Prayer Conductor for fifty years, Chairmanof of the District and Treasurer for twelve years. He also worked in the El Dorado Central District. He worked as a Lumber Grader for Olin Mills. He departed this life on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, Arkansas. His parents, his wife,Katie L. Jefferson, four brothers and two sisters all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a son, Terry Jefferson of Huttig, Arkansas; three daughters, Gayle Jefferson Ford and Carolyn Jefferson both of El Dorado, Arkansas and Recy James(Fred) fo Camden, Arkansas; one brother, Elder Jerry Jefferson(Pearlia) of El Dorado, Arkansas; six sisters, Mable Zeno, Rose C. Jones,Jessie Jefferson all of Houston, Texas, Lilma Holden of Culver City, California,Lula Reed of Oakland, California and Hazel Reed of Compton, California; one grandson, Marcus Ford of El Dorado, Arkansas. He leaves a host of nephews,nieces and other relatives. Homegoing Services for Bro. Jefferson will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 12 noon at Starlight Church of God in Christ, Strong, Arkansas with the Supt. Elder H. L. Easter officiating. Interment will follow in the Batts Chapel Cemetery, Huttig, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday, March 7, 2008 from 9-5 and Saturday,March 8, from 8-10am.
