"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" II Timothy 4:7 Bro. Willie Travis Norman, 56, of Ashtabula, Ohio and formerly of Urbana, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Gary, Indiana. Travis was born on August 23, 1951, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Archie Lee and Verda Mae Ford Norman. He was a 1969 graduate of Gardner High School in Strong, Arkansas. He was an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Missionary Baptist Church of Urbana until he moved to Ohio. Travis was preceded in death by his father and mother, his grandparents, a son Quinton Norman and two brothers, Charles Everett Norman and Ronnie Franklin Norman. Travis had a love for his family, fishing and driving trucks. He was known for his ability to fix just about anything that was broken and was always willing to help others. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; two sons, Damien Norman and Christopher Lee Norman of Ashtabula, Ohio; three step-sons, Ricky A. Chambers, Joseph R. Chambers and Dustin Ruth all of Ashtabula, Ohio; five brothers, Acey Lee Norman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rev. Earnest L. Norman, Sr. of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rev. John L. Norman of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Odell Norman of Chicago, Illinois and Archie Lee Norman, Jr. of Enfield, Connecticut; five sisters, Vera Rankin and Shirley M. Holly both of Little Rock, Arkansas, Frankie E. Andrews of Urbana, Arkansas, Gwendolyn L. Norman and Brenda G. Brannon both of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Homegoing services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Urbana, Arkansas with the Rev. Earnest Norman Sr. and Rev. John Norman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from 9:00am-5:00pm. There will be no visitation on Thursday. The body will lie at state in the church one hour prior to funeral time. No visitation after the service. Repast will be held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Urbana, Arkansas.
