Catherine "Dickerson" Pumphrey

August 6, 1931 — February 24, 2012

Ecclesiates 3:2 Sister Catherine "Dickerson" Pumphrey was born on August 6, 1931 in Harrell, Arkansas the daughter of Robert and Mary Booker Smith. Sister Catherine homegoing came on February 24, 2012 at 1:15 p.m. at her residence. Catherine moved to Chicago as a young lady. She found work at the Leaf Brand Company. Later she began working in the kitchen at Sara Lee's where she later retired. She then moved back to Arkansas where she met and married Auther Pumphrey. She united with The Word Lives Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder Timothy Spears and later moved her membership to Edington Temple Church of God in Christ where she remained faithful until her health failed. Sister Catherine was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, five brothers, Franklin Belin, Earl Belin, Elvin Jones and Edward Jones and Earnest Jones. One daughter Yvonne Belin, one son, James Larry Sumler, one grandson Allen Belin. She leaves to cherish her loving memories; two sons, Harold Dickerson(Joann) of Indianapolis, IN and David Dickerson of Hampton, Arkansas; two daughters, Carolyn Greenwood(Kenny)of Hampton, Arkansas and Ruthie Mae Powell(Lee Crockett) of Aurora, IL; 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Sis. Catherine will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Edington Temple Church of God in Christ, Hampton, Arkansas, with Elder Cornell Muse officiating. Interment will follow in the Ricks Cemetery, Hampton, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday, March 2, 2012 from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
