Psalms 121:1-2" District Missionary Rubie Lee McMurrian, a rare jewel, a virtous woman has departed from this earth, for another home in "A city which has foundation, whose builder and maker is God. Hebrews 11:10. The Queen was born on November 15, 1938 in Union County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of C.L. and Marie Norman McHenry. She departed this life on Thursday, August 2, 2007 in the Medical Center of South Arkansas, El Dorado, Arkansas. Rubie accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Elder L.C. Cook. She was a faithful and dedicated worker for Christ until her death. She served as Junior Church Mother at Starlight Church of God in Christ. She was the co-founder along with her husband of the Hi-Lite Church of God in Christ in Urbana, Arkansas. There she served for thirteen years. She was also District Evangelist, Home and Foreigh Mission Evangelist. In 1991 they moved to El Dorado, Arkansas and founded the Old Path Church of God in Christ where she served faithfully for the past eighteen years. She served as District Missionary for the Second Jurisdiction of Arkansas and founded the El Dorado West District. Rubie dedicated her life to helping others. She worked several years driving the school bus for the El Dorado School District. She was the owner of the "Joy Cone" in the Urbana Community. She loved everyone and was loved by all she came in contact with. She was a Proverbs 31 woman. Rubie met and married Joseph McMurrian and to this union eight children were celebrated. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, R.J. and Jessie McHenry and one sister, Ola Traylor. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband of 48 years, Superintendent Joseph McMurrian of El Dorado, Arkansas; four sons, Herman Levingston(Sherry) of Urbana, Arkansas, Elder Franklin McMurrian(Marilyn) of Mountain House, California, Elder Joe Nathan McMurrian(Elizabeth) of Tacoma, Washington, Minister David McMurrian(Sonya) and Minster Jacob McMurrian(Tammy) McMurrian both of El Dorado, Arkansas; three daughters, Velma Levingston, Rubie Mae(Willie) Carter all of San Leandro, California and Brenda Fulton of Detroit, Michigan; one brother, B.J. McHenry of Tacoma, Washington; one sister, Ruby Jean Williams of Tacoma, Washington; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren two special sister-in-laws, Dorothy McHenry and Eloise McHenry both of Tacoma, Washington; one brother-in-law, J.C. McMurrian(Ella Wee) of Urbana, Arkansas; a host of neices, nephews, other relatives and friends. Homegoing Services for Missionary McMurrian will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Bishop Donne L. Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 10, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, Augutst 11, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. The family will be at 537 Russell Street and 342 West Cook, El Dorado, Arkansas.
