"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..."Psalms 23 Mother Norma Jean Blackmon was born on June 7,1950 in El Dorado, AR the daughter of Herman Hayes, Sr. and Myrtle and Willie B. Miller, Sr. She received herearly education in the El Dorado School District and later graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in El Dorado, Class of 1968. Norman was a faithful member of New Calvary Church of God in Christ, North Little Rock, Arkansas under the pastoral guidance of Bishop Donne L. Lindsey for over 20 years. Adhering to God's guidance, Norma later united with New Commandment Church of God in Christ in Jacksonville, Arkansas under the tutelage of her brother, Elder Eddie L. Miller. She served diligently as the head Church Mother until God required her services in Heaven. She received her certification in accounting at Oil Belt Vocational Technical College in El Dorado, ARkansas. She was employed at South Central Technical College as a Financial Aide Officer. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman A. Hayes, Sr; two brothers Elder Lennie Miller and Steven Miller and a sister, Emma E. Miller. Norma leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband of 38 years, Elder James Blackmon of North Little Rock, Arkansas, two sons, James E. Blackmon, Jr. and Timothy D. Blackmon all of North Little Rock, Arkansas; one daughter Sonya Blackmon of El Dorado, Arkansas; her parents, Mother Myrtle Miller and Willie B. Miller, Sr.; eight brothers, Supt. Herman Hayes, Jr. of El Dorado, Arkansas, Willie B. Miller of Little Rock, Arkansas, Elder Eddie Lee Miller of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Elder Rickey Miller of Little Rock, Arkansas, Marvin D. Miller of Little Rock, Arkansas, Michael Miller of El Dorado, ARkansas, Tony D. Miller and William M. Miller both of Little Rock, Arkansas; six sisters, Missionary Bertha Mitchell of El Dorado, Arkansas, Myrtle Charise Easter(Derick) of El Dorado, Arkansas and Missonary Beverly S. Ross of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Missionary Stephanie Ford of Anna, Texas, Shymecca T. Jackson of El Dorado, Arkansas and Missionary Dorneshia R. Boyd of Little Rock, Arkansas; four grandchidren. A Homegoing Celebration for Mother Blackmon will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, El Dorado,Arkansas with Bishop Donne L. Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery, El Dorado, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 9am to 12pm on Friday, November 18, 2011. A Family Hour will be held at New Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ, North Little Rock, Arkansas from 5 to 7 p.m.
