"The Lord is my Shepherd,I shall not want... Psalms 23 Sister Irene Harper was born on August 16, 1914 in El Dorado, Arkansas the daughter of Levi and Lula Wade Freeman. Irene attended Caregiver School. She worked as a maid at the Garret Hotel for 25 years. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Union General Hospital in Farmerville, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Booker Harper, Sr.; two sons, George Harper and Roosevelt Harper and two daughters Shirley Henry and Bertha Harper; two sons in laws, O.L. Brown and Carlos Henry, Sr. and one daughter in law, Susie Harper; two brothers Willie Freeman and Tommy Freeman; three sisters, Lillie Freeman, Bertha Freeman and Branna Freeman. Irene leaves to cherish her loving memories four sons, Roy Harper(Laure) of Ashdown, Arkansas, Booker Harper, Jr. and James Harper(Louise), Hoosevelt Harper(Joycle) all of California; two daughters Lillie Mae Brown and Shirley Williams(Sterling) all of El Dorado, Arkansas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-geat grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Sis. Harper will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Little Bethel Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with Rev. Leon Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Stamps Cemetery, El Dorado under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home Friday, August 5, 2011 from 9 until 4 pm and Saturday, August 6, from 830 to 930 a.m.
