Romalice Brown

Deacon Romalice Brown was born to the union of George and Annie Preston Brown on September 4, 1908 in St. James Parish Louisiana. Romalice departed this life on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at the Medical Center of South Arkansas, El Dorado, Arkansas. At an early age Romalice accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He was ordained as a Deacon at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Leesville, Louisiana, on April 12, 1959. In 1972 he moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, he united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Ada Cooper. Upon moving to El Dorado, Deacon Brown united with First Baptist Church where he served as chairman of deacons, trustee, finance committee, custodian, member of Circle Veronica, member of the mass choir and male chorus, NBC and Sunday School Class. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Leesville, Louisiana after 35 years of service. He was known by those who loved him as: "Brown", Papa Puddin, Daddy Brown and Uncle Penoue. Romalice was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Willie Brown. God saw him getting tired and whispered in his ear, as dusk was setting on May 25, 2007 and told him it was time to rest, come on home. Romalice leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted wife of 34 years, Ada Brown of El Dorado, Arkansas, one daughter, Lula Carthan(John) of El Dorado, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Gregory(Doreen) of Willowbrook, Illinois, Fredrick(Kim) of Hickory Hills, Illinois, Alicia(Charles) of El Dorado, Arkansas, Nancy(Larry) of Irving, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; thirteen cousins all of New Orleans, Louisiana; a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing services for Bro. Brown will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church-Cordell, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Pierce L. Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday, June 1, 2007 from 9:00am until 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 2, from 8:00-9:30 am. The family will receive friends at 906 Union, El Dorado, Arkansas.
