"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..." Psalms 23 A TIME TO BE BORN-Leola Palmore was born June 2,1928 in Lisbon, Arkansas. She was the youngest of three children born to William "Babe" and Ludie Reynolds Palmore. A TIME TO SERVE-She confessed Christ at a young age, while attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member who was commited to the priviledge of serving on the Usher Ministry for more than thirty years. A TIME TO LOVE-She united in holy matrimony to the late R.B. Burgie where they shared forty-nine years of unity and oneness. To this union, the Lord saw fit to bless them with six children, four sons and two daughters. A TIME TO PLANT-As a virtuous woman, she was faithful to her savior, her family and the community. She was also an awesome "Mawmaw" to the grandchildren. A TIME TO LAUGH-Her character, congeniality, kindness and laughter had a way of inspiring those who had the privilege to interact with her. A TIME TO MOURN-Leola peacefully transitioned to her final resting place on Friday,March 4, 2011 at 6:30 a.m. while surrounded by her family at Medical Center of South Arkansas. She will be remembered by the many lives she touched and the those she love dearly. She is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Jean Gatson and Bettye Sue Burgie both of Smackover, Arkansas; four sons, Clarence Burgie of Northville, Michigan, Jerry Burgie of Memphis, Tennesee,Berry Burgie and Carl Burgie both of El Dorado, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren, one brother-in-law Floyd Burgie of Daly City, California and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church family members who will miss her dearly, but will forever cherish her legacy. A Homegoing Celebration for Sis. Leola will be held on March 12, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lisbon, Arkansas with Rev. Felton Burgie officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Lisbon Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday, March 11, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 12, from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m.
