Bro. Deacon James Meadors was born on March 8, 1948 in Summerfield, Louisiana, the son of Leonard and Thelma Holyfield Meadors. He departed this life on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Homer Memorial Hospital. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Sinai in Summerfield, Louisiana. He later joined Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. John W. Johnson. Brother Deacon James attended school in Summerfield, Louisiana. He began working as a logger contractor for many years until his retirement. Before departing this life, he loved and was loved by many. His parents, one son and a brother preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving memories; his wife of 39 years, Vera Meadors of Summerfield, Louisiana; Three sons, Foster Meadors(Lois), Bruce Tubbs, Keith Brown(Felechia) all of Summerfield, Louisiana; Five daughters, Sonya Samuel(Randy) of Houston, Texas, Karla Hunter of Summerfield, Louisiana, Melissa Williams(James) of Junction City, Arkansas, Simone Meadors of Detroit, Michigan, Gracie Baylor(Andrea) of San Antonio, Texas; One brother, Pat Meadors(Effie); An adopted daughter, Virginia Penister of El Dorado, Arkansas; Four sisters, Ruth Ann Holyfield, Ruby Lee Ford, Bobbie Ann Meadors and Robbie Jean Jackson all of Summerfield, Louisiana; 30 grandchildren; an Aunt and a host of nieces, nephews and many, many relatives and friends. Homegoing Services for Bro. Meadors will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, Summerfield, Louisiana with the Rev. John W. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visiation will be at the Funeral Home, Friday, March 16, 2007 from 8:30am-5:00pm. The family will receive friends at the home, 1612 Hwy 9, Summerfield, Louisiana.
